On Mannions Auction sight there is a sight calibration DEVICE for sale. I can't find this in any of my books it's for a MG34/42.
Thanks

It seems that a lot of people on Manion's don't know what they have, what it's used for, or what it's worth. I registered there months ago and never saw anything worth bidding on.... lots of overpriced junk, and a few oddities that were ridiculously priced. "But I was told it was really rare" seems to confuse people into thinking it's also valuable or desirable. Sometimes it's rare because nobody wanted it when it was new either..... and nobody wants it now.
The "Sight Calibration Device" doesn't look military to the time period, and I'd guess that it's more of a surveying tool. An aiming circle with stakes wouldn't go for near what the guy's starting price is. Another case of overpriced "I don't know what it is, but I want a lot of money for it."

Looks like an old school mortar sight. The cut on the bottom is right for a 8cm.
