MG34 gripstick assembly

Post by helix60 »

I thought this might be of use for those who have either taken their GripSticks a part or have received one in pieces. I've had a couple of requests for info on how to reassemble them.

Assuming you have the entire gripstick disassembled.

Holding the gripstick in the same position it would be located on the gun.

1)
The small coil spring goes on the right side of the cavity about 7/16" to the rear of the pivot pin on the right side.

2)
Hold the small pivot bar with the protruding pin on the right and the forked part to the rear.(the pivot hole will be forward of the pin on the right) The small piston shaped piece fits on the small pin protruding on the right side of the pivot bar. The larger flat goes towards the right side of the gripstick.

3)
Assemble the pivot bar and piston in the gripstick on the right side. Pivot bar pivots on the protruding pin in the gripstick.

4)
Install trigger spring in back of trigger, install spring shoe (pin with large head and two flats). Install the square headed pin in the rear of the trigger with the round pin extension pointed down.

5)
start the trigger in through the top of the gripstick. Tilt the rear of the trigger into position while making sure the trigger spring and shoe are positioned far enough forward to sit on the two shoulders in the gripstick. Push the trigger into the gripstick.

Tada.

The purpose of the pivot bar and piston thingy is to prevent you from firing the weapon when the charging handle is not in the forward locked position.

Let me know if this helps.

Regards,
Heli
