Are the increments correctly alligned on my Mgz34?
As the title asks, is everything correct with all the dials zeroed?
Cheers.
Cheers.

No, you have to do a borescope/pullover on that weapon system.....lol
You would need the armorer's borescope target to test alignment the sight to the bore of the weapon mounted on the Lafette.
Or, get a laser boresighter in .308, drop it in a Nato barrel in the weapon. Place the laser dot on the edge of a perfectly vertical distant object (buildings of the non-art-deco type work well), 1000 meters away. Ensure the Lafette is perfectly level. Traverse the azimuth scale until the vertical line in the cross hair is aligned on the above building. Using the difference in mills from Zero, and a trigonometric formula, you can determine how far off it is.
You can use a US GI M2 Compass as a clinometer to check the elevation Zero.
Or were you just trying to show off a very nice condition MGZ Optik?

What I was trying to say, maybe not with enough clarity, was when the adjustment dials are set to zero are the red traverse '0' and elevation '3' supposed to line up with the arrows impressed on the sight body?
Re: Are the increments correctly alligned on my Mgz34?
It looks right to me. When the zeros are on the index marks, the sight should be level and straight ahead.

Hi thier,
I know this might sound slightly barking, but when i get the chance to get some distance i intend to field zero my laffette
and 34 rig. Ie sight the gun in on to a distant target at known range, set the range on my sight unit and mount to the laffette.
I will then adjust the sight to the same point of aim using the adjusters on the sight dovetail mounting block.
Even tho the poor girl will never fire again at least the sum total of parts may bear some relationship.........yes i know .......men with white coats pulling up outside the house as i speak
and yes i do suffer from cordite withdrawal symptoms !!!!

Sounds like fun!

To make sure it is done correctly, set it up in a trench-a small ditch will do-then have the neighbor throw things at you while you do the adjustments. It will be as historically accurate as you can get it without the actual use of gunpowder. ---bil

Hey !! Great idea Bil !! I never thought of the ditch angle ,
mmmmm ..choices choices ...wet or dry ditch ?....not as young as i used to be

It should ideally be a really muddy ditch, with hidden deep bits!Age is no factor, these were also used by the Volksturm! ---bil
