Re: MG3 tripod with MG34?
If its to long or short for the mg34 and there is no chance of getting it to fit I may have to sell or trade my SA mg34 for a SA mg42/53.

Re: MG3 tripod with MG34?
This might help. I've taken the main measurement from the back wall of the lug hook since it is hard to get an exact centre without an MG but just measure the lug on yours and half it and you'll be sorted. As you can see I've provided several other measurement so as long as you have the block to hand or know it's dimensions you'll be able to figure out how to position it.
I think that all makes sense.
Tom.

Tom,
Thanks alot, unfortunately bad you said its a lot harder to do if you don't have the MG available. But according to the measurements you gave me, it should work. I'll keep.you guys posted on it.

42rocker,
Ya I noticed that before and did some research and from what I can tell those H&K lafettes have the same catch as the Germanand post war yugo 42 lafettes mounts. So in theory if it fits the H&K llafette it should fit the regular 42 lafettes.
I should have the lafettes by the end of September if all works out. Guarantee I will post pictures for you all.

Two of the pics on that page show a mg34 mounted directly on a H&K lafettes. What tnw does is to add a small clip to the bottom of the mg34 barrel shroud that will mount/clip in the front area of a H&K lafette. Mounting it that way stops you from being able to do quick barrel swaps like on a normally mg34 lafette but seems to work otherwise.

Re: MG3 tripod with MG34?
Its been a while but as promised I would deliver! So I have had the theory/idea that a 42 lafette can be made into a 34 lafette with the correct measurements and parts. Well my 42 lafette came in today And i mounted my mg34 to it right away. Now im just waiting for my 34 lafette parts to come in so I can fix her up but in the mean time here are some photos to hold you off. I have a pretty damn good idea how im going to do the build but if you have ideas or suggestions im all ears aswell. I dont mind a thought from outside the box

Re: MG3 tripod with MG34?
The project is complete !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have successfully converted a yugo M53 tripod to a German mg34 tripod. There are only a few slight differences, but I will upload a sneak peak picture on this thread and start a new thread with pictures on the build. There is one issue im still working on but when I have off and the time to do so I will fix it!
regards,
