On the mg34 canvas receiver cover there is clip/clasp, of different mfg. & designs. But they are all to clip on something. Anyone have a clue on what it was used for?
Also on the mg34/42 drum basket, on the side close to the cover hinge, there is a rectangular metal loop of some sort. Does anyone know what that loop was used for?
And last the mg34 broken shell extractor, this one is of Yugo mfg.
I have different ones for different Rifles, 1919a4/6, etc., and never needed to use any. But one time out, I over greased my reloads for the M1 Grand, in which did not eject. I used their tool with the prying end to get under the rim and remove the spent round. The Yugo shell extractor has one end with the same type of prying tool.
I know that if you blow off the bottom casing with rim that you'll need the other business end. By inserting it in the shell and pulling the broken shell out. My question is, how is the other end used? How does it grasp the shell casing?
Hopefully I described the areas well enough that you guys of vast knowledge can give me some clue . With the drum's loop or canvas receiver cover, I doubt that in my shootings at the range, that I would ever need foe whatever there for. But they say knowledge is the greatest tool and I'm just wondering if anyone knows .
But on the shell extractor, give me all the info that I would need to know.
Thank you all
