Doppel drum holder

Post by messerschmittfan »

I just picked up a very nice but incomplete top feed cover for the MG34. It is for the MG15 type 75 drum. It is missing some parts such as the latch and the two dust covers (doors). Does anyone know where I can gets parts for it? Reproductions are fine. I just want to mount it on one of my 34's. Thanks Harry

To be correct, that cover isn't for the DT15 drum for the MG15, it's for the doppeltrommel made for the MG34. You won't find a drum mag for the MG34, so people modify the latches and spring tension on the DT15 to use for the MG34 cover.

I've never seen separate parts for sale. You'll likely need to fabricate your own pieces.

Thanks for the post, I am aware that the MG15 drum is different which is why I noted the MG15 type drum. Do you know of any books or drawings for the cover? I can make a pattern of the covers but the locking latch for the magazine is going to be a hard one to copy without something to use as a guide. Thanks again Harry

I don't know of any pictures or drawings that are usable to make parts. Finding someone with a cover and getting them to take pictures and dimensions shouldn't be too difficult, it just might take you a few months for that. Persistence is the key for your project.

Thanks again, do you or anyone else know how to modify the MG15 drums to work on the 34? I thought I had some drums and went looking in the storage boxes and found three of them. I also have one that I got with the top piece. Now I need to find out what to do about relieving the spring pressure and any other modifications necessary to use on the 34. Thanks Harry
