I just got my MG-34 Spare Barrel Carrier. I have a question now.
Can anyone tell me about the paint? The exterior seems to be a post-war Yugo. (Lovely shade) but the interior seems to be Panzergrau? Or some sort of Feldgrau? I cannot pinpoint it exactly.

Re: MG-34 Barrel Carrier
The carrier is actually designed for an MG42, note square bulges at the ends but, of course, an MG34 barrel will fit.
It would appear that you have four layers of paint.
The first being red oxide, the 2nd being Dunkelgrau, the 3rd being Dungelgelb (appears quite light in this case) and the fourth being green splodge.
The first three colours are certainly original WW2 German colours while the green is post-war, no doubt Yugo.
The red oxide and grey would be the factory applied colour while the Dunkelgelb was probably applied sometime after it left the factory gates.
Worth spending some tedious time trying to remove the green splodge.
Tom.
