Sling hardware

Post by pathfinder »

Has anyone thought of using a WWI german rifle sling swivel as a basis of a mg sling? Sarco has one new made for under $9.00. It would need a spacer ring made like the mg34 to 42 conversion and a longer pin, and mabe have the arms shortened a little. Just a thought.

I would like some good measurements on the snaphook for the other end. Might be something I could make.

The Gewehr 98 sling snap is a bit to weak to trust hauling the MG-42 I suppose you could beef it up with a thicker pin, but the side parts are too thin. I suppose you could use it if you haven't got anything else. It would probably break though.
