Sarco "LAFETTE GROUND TRIPOD"

Post by needaclip »

Has anyone picked up one of the MG42 ground tripods that Sarco has been advertising? They state that they are not MG3 mounts. I'm assuming they are post war Yugo but at the price they are offering it doesn't sound like a bad deal.

Guys,

I just got one from Sarco. It was a post war Yugo. Looks like a good value for the money.

I picked one up since it is not to far from me. They are the WW2 German type but it looks like all of the WW2 marking were removed by the Yugo Goverment. I was able to look through about 15 of them and couldn't find any German stamps. They are a good deal for the price and they are all in good shape and working order from what I seen. They are also full of grease and the Yugo green color.

Thanks Guys,
I placed my order and hopefully will see it late next week. I knew if I didn't get one I would be kicking myself after they ran out.

These make a real good gun mount, and it really dresses up the living room with the 42 on one of these.Keeps the neighbors away, too!  ---bil

Very nice! Did your sarco tripod have a bolt box? I can't really tell from the pictures.

It just wouldn't be right to put a FA 42 on a Yugo lafette! DA is very careful about historic accuracy.{I hear he only hangs out with women that remember WWII!  } ---bil

All of the ones I seen there had the bolt box.

here is my dumb question...

What are the two pads for on the front??

No one leans on that side of the mount...so unless it is like a backpack thing...I have no idea!

Exactly! It is a backpack thing. Hence, the needs for lafette carry straps. It folds up and some lucky guy can wear it on his back.

Thanks for the info Bmwr12... I didn't mean to offend you DA. My question was actually directed towards JoeH. Trust me, I would never accuse a man with a suit of armor in his living room of mounting a FA MG on a Yugo Lafette.

Offend me? HAH. No way. That's Bil's job. I thought you were talking about my lafette. It's hard to keep the conversation straight around here sometimes.

Guys,

There is a cylindrical metal box on the horz leg almost hidden from view. You can see the top of it just above the elevation knob.
