MGZ40..Finally got one

Post by wooferocau »

Been looking for an MGZ40 for a while, i finally got one in very good condition, just missing the rubber eye cup. The optics are very good.
It was apparently captured in Budapest 1944....

Very nice find.

I have seen reproduction eye cups for sale on eBay.

Congrads on getting it. Looks nice. See that you are getting some painting done of other items also.

As an eye cup, at a photo shoot one time I used a black magnifier from HF. I knocked the glass out and then used a round file till I could slip the eye piece on. You can tell up close if you know what to look for and really need to use it. But Total cost was a few minutes and under $2.00.
Still interested in a nice replacement however.

The parts in the background are my Yugo tripod i am refinishing......it did not have the optics mount, i was able to fabricate one with the help of Tommygunn ( thanks again) who provided me with the dimensions... :)

How many different manufacturers of the MGZ scopes were there? Mine is "BWT" which i havnt seen before?

Something that you might want to review and save is the number that is on the top "hand done, added" as I'll bet that is related to the lafette that it went to.
