Barrel Plunger Question

I am having difficulty installing the barrel plunger into my TNW receiver. Can anyone give me some guidance on the best way to do this. I am not sure exactly what retaining pin to use, and was wondering if the retaining pin hole should be drilled all the way through. What keeps it from backing out when firing? Thanks for all your help
