Any interest in longer sears/trip levers?

Post by ChrisPCook »

I'm expecting a quote back from the machine shop in the next day or two, anybody have any interest in a longer trip/sear for the sear ring? It'll be cheaper to have more made, so I figured I'd try to gauge interest, even on short notice. Chris...

Would this improve on the existing TNW parts? and if so what way.
Thanx

It isn't an improvement on their design, it's simply a longer length. Some folks have rewelded (me included) receivers that were just a hair too long for one reason or another. Basically this is just a longer length sear/trip lever. I made a homemade version, and it worked (successfully fired off primered brass), but before I actually go out and fire my weapon I want one properly made and heat treated, so the machine shop has one to duplicate (just a longer length to make contact). It's cheaper to make them in quantity so that is the plan (at least 10). Chris....

I'm still waiting to hear back from my local machineshop, Alaska prices on everything is expensive, so I'll see-hopefully I'll know something Monday. Either way I'm going to get some made if the local shop doesn't pan out. Won't collect any $$$ until I actually have them in hand and ready to go. Chris...

Id be really interested if the price is right. TNW wants 51 dollars for the sear. I need another one to fiddle with and I know it needs to be a bit longer. If you could make em a tad longer and cheaper, Id jump on it. How soon is this going to happen? Im itchin to get mine up and running and will probably break down and call TNW in the next 2 weeks or so......

I will run by the machineshop tomorrow or Tuesday, still waiting for a quote. They decided to do it with their waterjet/CNC machine if I have them do it (i.e.-price is right), so I'll see what I hear from them. They have a lot of work going on, so I know I'm not high on the feeder chain, but I'd like them to start this week if it prices out OK. If not I have contacted a forum member about possibly taking this on. Chris...

OK, this is a go. I went by today, they said it may take up to two weeks....so, a little wait. These will be longer than the available trip levers that are currently on the market. I'll provide all the info and price when they are ready. I'm not taking any pre-orders, so you'll have to wait until I have these in hand. The price (provided nothing changes) is very reasonable. The price came down considerably with the water jet being used to cut the parts, also in quantity made it cheaper. I'll provide updates as they become available. Right now I'm having 20-30 made as it was much cheaper just to crank out that amount, it didn't do much to the final cost, and made the unit cost come down considerably. Chris...
