WTB brake

Anyone have an idea where could be found an original muzzle brake for the mg42 8mm. I saw one in Myvrangs book and it liiks way to cool on the end of that gun. Must have one :twisted:

I suppose that somewhere in the world, someone has one besides just a picture, but if you ever meet the guy, make sure to let the rest of the world know. Nobody I know has ever seen one other than the pictures. In a couple manuals I've done, they're crossed out and replaced with the standard booster.

Here's a pic, not a very good pic, from one of the manuals I've translated. On top is the current booster with nozzle, below is the original device, a muzzle brake with the associated nozzle. The original manual I translated had the brakes X'd out, with a note that it was to be replaced with the booster.

The muzzle brake was similar to the brakes that are on .50 cal rifles today, although it didn't need as many gills to do the job. One of the reasons that they stopped production was that it gave the MG42 an even faster rate of fire. It did control weapon recoil, but was determined to not be worth the trouble.

As far as I've ever heard, no remaining example exists today.
