Looking for M53

Post by xxBLEH »

hello all,

I've been looking for an M53 for quite a while, I'm not sure if it's cheaper to buy one or build one. I've seen them go for about 500 euros in Europe but all of the ones I've seen cant be shipped internationally. So my questions are:

where is the best place to get an M53 in the US?

should I buy a completed one or a build?

thanks

Buying one that's already assembled and running is great if you have the money to spend. Building one will save you thousands of dollars, which is compensation for your time and frustration. Which way to go is something you must decide for yourself. Finished guns appear listed on here for sale sometimes, and so parts kits.

I'm sorry, I forgot to mention that I live in the US and that I'm looking for a Deactivated M53

I asked as "Deactivated" means different things in different areas.

Are you going to use for reenacting. Therefore needed it as close to possible as the real thing or to hang on a wall as it looks close enough.

Someone was making plastic covers for ruger 10/22's. Also making total plastic repo's that are plastic and look close.

Now there are some folks out there rebuilding m53's into dummy's. Who what how much need to look for.

So what are you looking for.

Also a deactivated weapon in/from Great Britain might just mean jail time here in the US as the rules are different.

If that's what you want, you'll likely be able to find a dummy gun at one of the larger gun shows, or maybe find one for sale that doesn't work (built crooked, etc.) and just not fix it. It may or may not still be classified as a gun, but for the right price, you could do a small bit of welding and that would convert it to a dummy gun.
