WTB MG42/Yugo .308 barrel

Post by bigjoe4265 »

Greetings,

I'm converting my Yugo M53 to .308 and I'm looking for barrel(s) to buy.

Thank you,

Is there anywhere you can get 7.62 NATO barrels that aren't $400? I read an old post on here where somebody was making nice barrels from 1919 barrels milled down, they were still asking $265 @ piece but that was 11 years ago. I need one for my build but it looks like I'm screwed.

Before the barrel ban, 8mm barrels were $35, .308 barrels were $25. That was a long time ago. If it was only a barrel, it wouldn't be so expensive. The barrel and barrel extension combination is a pain in the butt to get the headspace set correctly, and getting the stubs out of the old extensions can be quite difficult in itself. We have politicians to blame for making barrels expensive. Banning importation of the barrel is one of the ways to keep guns away from the people.
After all, making MG42 barrels expensive prevents the MG42 from being used in gun crimes, right?
