WTB: MG42 Wooden Butt

Post by easymoney »

Looking for a wooden butt stock which is blond or some color other than black. I might consider a black painted one if it can be cleaned and the paint removed to expose the wood.
Thanks

MG42 stocks weren't painted black. M53 stocks were.

Thanks, I figured 42 stocks were clear finished and that the MG53 stocks were painted black; now confirmed.

I am looking for any stock that can be refinished to look like a 42 stock; no markings necessary.

Thanks.

If you need a stock to put on an MG42, you need an MG42 stock. The threads inside the stock cup and on the buffer are different. One way (stock and buffer have to match manufacturer, both Yugo, or both German) is loose, and the other way it's too tight. I don't remember which way is which, but MG42 stock needs an MG42 buffer. Or you can change the internal cups if you have a spare.
