I'm always looking for more German manuals to translate, but this one is a one of.

I know there are a couple of these guns in private hands... Here's something I've never seen before:

An ORIGINAL MG81 manual. Not cheap, just never saw one, even not for sale.

If someone gets this and wants it in English, I can do that.

Hi John,
Despite the fact that it is a rare original manual, IMHO the price seems excessive. Luckily there are copies of this manual available to collectors, although the quality of the illustrations may not be comparable.
As far as I know it is a manual from 1938.

Expensive? yes, but manual prices are higher than ever. An MG34 Butz manual is frequently in the $200 range, and they're common. The most expensive manual I've seen was for a German tracked howitzer. It sold for $1300+ There has to be at least two people who want it badly for any auction sale to be that high.

These prices are insane, although nothing surprises me anymore. It's the law of supply and demand.

All prices are insane lately. My $180 98K? $900 now. An MG 42 goes for $60,000 now. I paid $900 for my first machine gun. Those sell for $18,000 now. If you don't like the prices now, wait a few years and you'll want today's prices back.

The German Weapons and Shooting Technical Guide book I'm translating right now used to be $60. The last one of those I saw went for $329.

I agree with you, that's why I stopped buying new pieces a long time ago and now I enjoying what little I have, althought ammo prices are climbing also !
Today I received this manual from the Verlag R. Eisenschmidt. It's not in perfect condition, but I paid a more than reasonable price (€25), although I'll also tell you that months ago I paid more than €60 for an original H.Dv. 256 manual.
