My wife took this tintype of me this weekend.
It was captured on a modern exact reproduction of an 1850's ferrotype camera, this was a 14 second exposure, the chemicals are of the same type as used in the 1850's and really smell out the house.
*PS - tried it with my finger over the guard, I preferred the way it looked with my finger resting on the trigger - foolhardy, irresponsible, dangerous and amateurish - just like the civil war pics from the 1860's - that and it's dummy ammo

Great picture! Are tintypes normally reversed (left-to-right)?

Ha - all the enthusiasts spot the reversal, yes, it is a mirror image.
(or, the MG42 went Russian.)

That is really cool. Like being immortalized in a modern antique. Now you need to put on a uniform and show the kids how grandpa looked just like you.

Grandpa (Great grandpa), would not have approved of such expensive playthings.roadrunner wrote:That is really cool. Like being immortalized in a modern antique. Now you need to put on a uniform and show the kids how grandpa looked just like you.

Phil - the pic's fun, the wife is a talented kid and whatever you think of the pic, she made me look cooler than I am, lol.
