thank you Matt, I agree!. There is alot to be said for getting something you have wanted since you were a kid and building it from torch-cut garbage.

blued. I found it to be really easy. I just glass bead or scrub with steel wool and blue away....right in the kitchen, y'know, after the wife is asleep!. It looks good in person, but in some photos with flash, it looks brown. But for $6.00. ya cant beat it.

I figured after whining for a month or more about my trying to get the holy grail of buttstocks, I had to display it.

. cold?, as opposed to hot?, yes. Shake bottle, put on cotton ball, rub in, let sit 1 min, rinse w/water, oil it up. done.

gunslingerdoc,
YEA, the feet on the MG3 Tripod is rough on hardwood floors; especially the front foot, it has a pointed pin there.
I have mine set up in my study and that floor is carpeted. I still have an additional 4" piece of carpet under each back foot and a double piece under the front. My wife has warned me about setting up ANY tripod on the wood floors, and I LISTEN to her, LOL

So the metal doesn't dig into your back when your humping it around the boondocks.

When the tripod is folded for carry that pad would lie against your back.
