MG42 AA sight mount.

Post by RaccoonRough »

Could I ask someone who has a close up pict of an original AA sight mount post a picture for me. I would like to add this to my M53 when I build it and want some ideas on where and how it is mounted. I wonder if they are available for purchase anywhere?

Thanks

Now I also know what that little piece was in my old 42 kit. It has a little wire clip on it too.

Thank you,

Bil and Waffendude.

Now does anyone have a picture of the rear AA sight MG42 style? I am curious how it attaches to the frame or sight. I am looking to buy one.

I do have those, complete for $50.00 + S&H. The M53 rear sight base will need to be drilled to install.

Here is mine attached. There are 3 holes on the left side of the rear sight base. One for the pin and 2 to lock the rear sight up or down. The right side has one large hole.

So is anyone repoing the front AA sight attachment mountt? So those of us with an M53 barrle shroud can add the front AA sight mount? If so what would be the best way to add the mount drill and rivet/screw or weld?

Vik,

I ended up getting just the hardware (Spring included) that had alread been removed from a WW2 receiver. But then I just up and bought a reg. WW2 receiver that already had the front AA sight attached. So I put it on the back burner.

But I am sure that someone has installed one onto a Post receiver and I too would be interested in finding out how they did it.

But I tell you a great place to get the rear AA Sight (Complete) is Dan with Angolia Armory!!!! Great guy and good price. RR

Just so you all know, I emailed BRP and they had sold original AA front sight mounts, but are now sold out. Now what?

Sounds to me like someone needs to start making this fairly simple part!

so what holds the sight in, a clip? I think I can make the base from tubing and a piece of flat bar stock and weld it together. But I have no idea what holds it in. Anybody?
