Wow is right! Great collection of militaria, parts and accessories, but I thought there'd be more MGs. No doubt they are all correctly registered for private possession and so, are now in collector limbo. Someday they'll need some money though, heh, heh, heh...
Off the top, couple of curious serial numbers and manufacturers:

• Machine gun, U.S., Colt Vickers Model 1915; manufactured by the Springfield,
MA Armory; serial number 12307<

Springfield, MA as MFG?? Seems they have mixed up a Benet-Mercie (Springfield and Colt made them) with the 1915 Colt Vickers. Serial range is Vickers and not Benets.
Russian 1910 Maxim serial number is not possible: 1683855. Could be a couple numbers added for registration purposes, which I've seen before.

I'd be interested in knowing if the Brit Vickers is an orignal or a sideplate. I'm guessing sideplate from the serial. If not, then it gets added to my current list of eight original Brit military issue Vickers in the Regstry. Caliber is listed as 7.62. Wonder what that means? 54r or .308 or?

Sorry to see another registered Parabellum go into limbo! Same for the Revelli. I'm proud to say that I've got examples of everything else, but have been on the prowl for a Para and a Revelli for many years. Not a lot of them in the NFRTR.

So, Glen, when you go back up there again, see if you can research some of these issues, and maybe see the registrations, even, by sweet talking the curator and throwing out some jargon so they kow you are serious and MG edjumacated.....there's other questions I would have as well.

WOW!!!

I hope that the staff there knows how to store the stuff.... Too many fine collections have been ruined by the Profession staff in charge of things... Best that comes to mind is the Very Rare US Paper money collection that was given to the Boy's Range... The staff displayed it used Scotch Tape to display it... Really hurt the value.......

Hope that some one that knows something is around to help these folks.... Like "Lucky" just helped out San Quenton Prison on one of their 1917's.....

thanks for the tip, Matt. I have known of this gun for the last four years,, and have inspected and fooled with iton a coouple of sccasions at KC. John thetford bought it for a song, and eventually found a lock for it, so it's complete, but the receiver is slightly bent, so the recoiling parts don't do that. I made some offers to him for trades of comparatively saleable MGs, but he declined. He is very concerned that someone might take advantage of him!! As you know, "rare" doesn't always translate into popular......or saleable at elevated values.

Bob, Yeah I know what you mean... some people are just not very good at selling things. They would rather hold on to it so long that the dollar inflats so much that their asking price has become reasonable! Like you said, rare can sometimes mean that less people want it! I mean for me personally even if its a super rare gun, unless I am looking at a money involved, I would rather have a MG08 even if the Parabellum is very rare!
