K98 Scope Mount

Hello i was looking on one of those gun auction sites earlier and i came across a K98 that had a rail weilded to the side of it, next to the rear site. They said they did not know if the Germans did it or if someone after the war did it, my question is has anyone seen anything like this on other mausers? Or does it sound like someone did it after the war? Thanks.

Sounds like a ZF41 scope mount (left side of the rear sight) there are aftermarket repro mounts as well as repro ZF41 scopes.

Not welded, screwed (4) very difficult to time up. I've done several. Not easy to do with the repro mounts, the "shim" is backwards for most receivers.
