08/15 filler cap gasket replacement

Post by MrMilo »

On my 08/15 the gasket that goes between the filler cap and on the water jacket has all but worn out. Anyone making replacements or ideas on the best way to replace that piece?

In short, no. I just put a lot of grease in mine and it holds water/steam.

Silly question but what type of grease do you use?

For that, whatever I have around. How bad is your gasket?

Weren't the originals leather?

I found a sheet of dense silicone rubber, and made my own. The most difficult part for me was making the stepped/countersunk holes for the retaining screws, but having a Dremel tool was definitely helpful.
