Re: MG 08 color
Since many were painted by individual groups of soldiers using material found on hand its very hard to say what colors were used. After looking at quite a few original guns in museums and in collections I've not yet seen any with matching colors. Some used a variety of flat green which varied from light to dark green. Others used widely varied colors like red, brown, green, silver, black and on and on. I don't know that there was any official color for the guns so i think you can use just about anything.....

Re: MG 08 color
Many thanks guys , you have confirmed my opinion about this .
Matter is that our reenactment club produced an MG 08, firing blanks , and is currently being debated, what color should be painted
