Hello, and thanks for taking time to read this post. A friend of a friend passed these photos along to me asking if I could identify it, my knowledge is more pistols and SMG's. It looks a Mauser, but, the metal reinforcement has me puzzled, the only other info I have is that the rifle has been in the family for some time, and that there is a german helmet that was passd down along with the rifle, caliber is unknown. As noted it is a Hungarian M43 but it is a post war model. They used them well into the 50's. The Germans also used them but with the front of the stock looking more like a K98k. It is normally found in the standard German 8X57 in the war time and post war models. Harry
