Check out these shot groups

Post by bbigbore »

I set up today to test a new barrel/lock/extension combo. Set up 100yds away, stapled a B27 target up for fun and proceeded to test. Loaded a 100rd belt, lined it up on the B27, and held the trigger until the belt was empty. Everything worked fine. (Romanian 8mm ammo) To get things steaming I loaded a 150rd belt, gave the elevation one turn up, and held the trigger until the belt was gone.

The gun stayed solidly locked in place(swiss mount), but I could not see the target while shooting so I was hoping I was hitting it.

When I walked down to check the target it had 2 distinct holes in it. I guess I had no idea what to expect, but I wasnt expecting this.

The accuracy of the 08 is amazing. Try it at 400 yards. Easy to see why they issued optics with these guns. I can utterly destroy a 55 gallon drum at 400 yds from a sled. My vickers and 1917 will suprise you as well but the mounts have to be bagged to kerp them from dancing. Thanks for sharing the pics.

I just finished reading A Rifleman went to War. The author was a Machine Gunner, and what was covered in the book about MG tactics makes sense after seeing these groups.

"A Rifleman Went to War" is a great book that was, not sure if still is, a required reading for would-be snipers attending the U.S. Marine Corps Sniper School.

Very nice! I wonder what I could get with an 08/15... probably nothing close.

Not unless you bolt it to something very heavy.
