Got my kit today!!!

Post by Pirate »

UPS showed up with my mg 42 kit this morning. There is a LOT of parts!!
The receiver looks pretty good and should not be a problem to reweld. The ratchet plate is hosed but I see brp has them.
I guess the place to start is to cut out the gripstick hole and deburr all the cuts and get to good weldable metal. then see how it alll fits together and make up some copper backing plates and some sort of fixture and start welding.
I will try to post pic's of the progress.

Good move!! I spoke to dan last week and he said he only had about 35 kits left.
From what I have seen so far with my kit they are definately buildable.

Its amazing anything works right around here with a bunch of
over-age juvenile delinquents running the place.

Yeehaaaaa! Kit just arrived!

I won't unpack it till I get home, which is of course going to kill me looking at the box filled with tightly wrapped unknowns.

Thanks to all of you who have let me lurk here long enough to be convinced I need one of these damned things!
