Thanks John. Coming from you that means a lot. As to the hook on the AR hammer, I had already cut it off, as I was afraid it might hang up on the bolt.
And I know what you mean about others bragging about their AR builds. I hear that all the time, as if it was something difficult to do. I just let them brag, and go on about my "rat killing" as my daddy used to say.

awesome man! glad there no problems or hickups. Gives me a lot of hope for my build. Yea I can't stand it when the guys with their AR's actually think it takes a lot of effort.

Thanks Along. I know what you mean about the AR guys. I built my brother-in-law an AR, but to hear him tell it he was a one man show. After I built it, and test fired, sighted in and tuned the trigger, I caught him bragging to his buddy's about how he had to step in and "help me out". Needless to say, we don't speak anymore.
He doesn't even know about the MG, if he did he'd probably tell his friends about how he bailed me out. As I have always said - "Some peoples kids????!!!!"

Hey Guys, I need to know what I have here. This is the roughest looking stock and buffer I have seen. It looks like a really rushed effort, with glued spots where the wood broke thru during the construction. The release for the buffer is recessed so far I had to push on it with a screwdriver to get it to release. Is it possible this was some "end of war" piece, or just junk?

last ditch club

I have started a build, my first using Global Tool and Machine rear receivers. I have two 42' parts kits with short shrouds and the GTM receivers seemed best way to go. I picked up a crushed MG3 camming section from RTG cut and straightened it. I only needed about the first inch or so of the section and the end was what was crushed so the actual camming area is only slightly bent. I had help welding it though, I am a so so welder.

Thanks DARIVS, it's going slow but good. The short shroud is now a long shroud and fitting the GTM receiver section has started.
