Butt stock help request.... One of our new members asked how he could get a better butt stock and or make it better. Then he posted a really nice basic weapons site with a lot of neat photos of weapons and basic take down and such.

http://www.gunpics.net/yugo/m53/m53.html

Well a few of you have redone your butt stocks (I'm just starting). How about some help and ideas for a guy with a great information website??????

Thanks for starting the topic 42rocker, does anyone know if the stock for the m53 is a restricted export because its a part of a machinegun?

Cheers,

Bas

Where are you? Russia (I think not) guess would be down under, but??? USA???

I think that a lot of folks have redone their own stock and it's worked great for them. Or you can buy one and get it shipped in. I will also try to help you with some photos of a few things when I get the time. Talk about that later.

That sticky is a great way to destroy and history or value in a stock that may be just dirty. Sanding is nearly a no no in the collector community to the degree it states there. Granted Im not worried about a mg42 stock thats non matching tot he gun and is a dime a dozen. Would I have done that to any of my rifle stocks. Heck no. Sanding cartouches or serial numbers out devalues a gun faster than a reblue and sporter job. If you have something you want to retain the value on and yet make it look much better then see the stickies at http://parallaxscurioandrelicfirearmsfo ... /directory. Cabinetman is the best there is when it comes to wood refinishing and preservation.

"""Sanding cartouches or serial numbers""" I don't believe that is what anyone would want anyone else to do. Normally yugo and most German butt stocks do not have have serial numbers and cartouche's, therefore taking black paint and other "stuff" off is normally not a problem unless one gets to carried away with the sanding.
Any rate, Good Luck with everything and you have a nice website.
