I had noticed this as well.

Life gets in the way!

I know work is pulling much of my time...and my son turns 3 end of July...and he is quite a handful...

Not having the time or cash to go out shooting.

Maybe others are getting pinched the same.

At the end of the day, I have been passing out and then wouldn't you know it...time to go back to the office!

It's summer. People spend more time out of the house. Happens every year.
Through many dangers, toils and snares
I have already come;
'Tis Grace that brought me safe thus far
and Grace will lead me home.

Salt is right.

Also, yes less parts kits mean less guys building, and Noonxnoon has a point the economic situation is taking its toll, but I would rather it be a quiet forum with great information and light-hearted banter than like almost every other gun forum filled with grumpy old men bickering about politics playing who is to blame, Lefty vs. Righty for this country’s woes.

Mg42.us is about quality not quantity. :D

Another factor-soon after this forum began,we suddenly saw a large amount of cheap yugo kits hit the market.Although they had no rear receiver, everyone was buying them, and trying to find out what to do next.So there was a lot of action.I don't think a lot of those kits were ever finished, and folks lost interest. The ones that were done are being used.So a lot of folks are either not here,or are just checking in on occasion. There is a core group, and a group that rotates through. All have something to give to the overall knowledge.Another factor is that we are basically limited to the historical German MGs.A few other guns now and then. But this limits us compared to the sites that build anything and everything. However, after being on several other sites,I do know that this site is highly recomended to anyone that is building a German MG.There is more information on them than any other place I have heard of on the net.Add in the info on accessorys and the detailed pictures, and you get a referance source that can't be beat. Not to mention a group of folks that can answer almost any question asked. But I think it is slow because of the summer, too. It is a pattern. ---bil

PLUS, we have Bil for comic relief.

That puts us ahead of our competitors.

Eh? I can't hear due to all the gunfire having hurt my eardrums. Try back in a while.

That's pretty good on the Cobra group, I tried to join up. I just went out and bought 3 excellent condition MG08's with the sled mounts for $200.00 each instead! See! You don't have to be a member to find deals like that! This stuff is not rare, you just have to have the radar for where to find it, is all. I'll make sure to never again pay more than $5 for any medals, either, they shouldn't be worth any more than that!

It was tough, I had to pry the shipping crates open from Raritan arsenal having sent them out to be given to the original owner. He'd opened them of course, back in 1968 when he registered them, and two are still in the cosmoline from 1919. One's been cleaned up, I told him that of course killed the value of the whole set, and he understood. They used original belts for packing material in the crates, I'll have to unravel all those, but those were free, of course.

The ammo was so overpriced it was stupid. No-one should pay more than $75. for a crate of ammo, even if it is original WWI ammo. It's not like it's good new stuff, it's old junk. Most of it will probably go off, but still!

How am I doing? :bnija:

I have been up to a lot of builds over the summer. Just finished my last MG-13, MG-34, of course a few MG-42s. Working on a SG-43, Hotchkiss Portive, Breda, MKI Bren, Beretta 38a, and some kind of Russian WW1 Artillery carbine. Also have built a 1903a3 sniper, a 60mm mortar, and got a SVT-40 up and running again . Some pics to follow. I almost forgot, also working on a gas gun assembly for a MG-42. See full plate.

I think this forum will pick back up with the Semi Auto M-53s starting to dry up and guys are going to start to assemble them again!

Its way too hot to build anything out here in AZ right now we tone down for several months but since the new Law our Govenor signed this year as of Oct 1 we are exempt from Fed Regulation on all guns built in AZ gotta love Arizona...

I will be going full tilt once Oct rolls around...lol :wnana:

Too many other things going in summer. My wife likes me to spend time out working on making the house look nice in my spare time (of all the stupid things a man could spend his time on :puk: ). Oh well she puts up with my hobby so what can I say? I still try to stop in every day so here, not so much to post but to stay informed. I did just pick up a cool-sub gun clone today...more on that later after I find the time to shoot it.
