Where to get the best kit?

Post by Cope1216 »

I was wondering who has the best kit for a MG42. I am pretty new to this and any help would be great. Would like to shoot live fire and blanks if possible

A good kit is pretty much where you find it. Shop around the internet a lot and keep your eyes wide open. The best deals are usually from other collectors like the guys on this forum, not auctions. I would buy from BRP Corp or Dan at Angola Arms (if he has any left). You want to try to get a GERMAN parts kit, and SPECIFY THAT. You would not want to use a Yugoslavian M-53 kit unless you could not find a German kit. The German parts have closer tolerances and several Yugo and German parts will not work together, even though the Yugo M53 is touted as equivalent to the MG-42. Mixing a Yugo top feed cover assembly onto a German MG-42 reciever will usually NOT work. If you want to buy a semi-auto M53, they occasionally pop up for sale. Check Gunbroker.com or this forum first.

The guys on this forum will be happy to help you with a build project. As for blanks or live fire, most guys go for BOTH, having a special blank firing barrel made for their gun as a custom accessory. Blanks are less reliable than live rounds. And live rounds have a satisfying recoil and put nice little holes in things.

When you get ready to start to Blank-Adapt your MG42/SA42...send me an e-mail.
We are maiking 2-pcs. Blank-Barrel-Assemblies for these and the MG34/SA34.

Also, a lot of good information is contained in the MG42 Section...under "Blank-Adapting the MG42".

Regards, RichardS in MI.

Are you looking for a complete German mg42 or a Jugo m53 which looks alike??

If its a m53 looks like mg42, then try the parts kits at centerfire for $199.99 plus barrel $79.99. The parts as spare parts are worth the price.. Then Good Luck in finding a rear receiver.. BRP or Wiselite or ?? Again Good Luck on that..

I just started a build myself using an IMA rear and a MGS parts kit..
