Show us another photo from the front-side.....as this looks like it might be a part of the conversion to 5.56mmNATO (IE: .223 Rem). There use to be a kit out that was manufactured by another country. The "old" MG42.com board had a long thread about these....did anyone manage to save this for posting...

Top belt in the photo looks like the 250-rd .308 belt (it was also made in 50-rd. sections).......the ones in the middle with the pins look like a form of MG81 Belt (made with disintegrating links and sections)....the West-German BW also used some of these....the last belt with standard wire-winding...

Pirate, Could you please post the measurements from the firing-pin you made up (that was later bent, etc. during firing) for the members of this forum ? (IE: Total length, diameter, length of forward-tip to the shoulder, shoulder-width, etc.). Thank you for your input, RichardS. Blanksguy2001@charte...

Pirate, Has anyone looked at using the rear of the "wedge" as a stop/safety to where the firing-pin cannot hit the primers if the "wedge" has not fully seated the bolt-locking-rollers? Possibly a hole for the firing-pin all the way through....and a step inside for the FP-spring.....the shoulder of t...

Hi Jason, I don't believe that the "Hardend-Primer" issue from age nor south of the boarder ammo is an issue either as the case-heads of Pirate's fired 7.62x51mmNATO Ammo are made at the "Lake-City" Arsenal in the USA in the year 2001, 2002, and I thought I saw one with a 2003 head-stamp marking.......

Pirate, Two ideas for you to try in sorting this out: 1: You have the ability to post clear digital photos of your fired case-bases.......please post a clear digital photo of your firing-pin-tip "profile". 2: When you push your firing-pin forward to measure firing-pin-protrusion.......What does it m...

Rates of fire........ You can change the "rate of fire"/RPM (Rounds-per-minute) in the MG42...or MG1...or MG3 in a couple of different ways. Some of these are, but not limited to: 1: Bolt-weights: There are standard-weight-bolts=Fastest RPM. There is a slightly "heavier" standard-weight-bolt=Fast RP...
