Original MG81 manual

I'm always looking for more German manuals to translate, but this one is a one of. I know there are a couple of these guns in private hands... Here's something I've never seen before: An ORIGINAL MG81 manual. Not cheap, just never saw one, even not for sale. https://www.ebay.de/itm/255754411632?hash...

Re: heart attack

I spent some days on a 1931 Cadillac Phaeton that was taken to a big show in Florida. A Phaeton is a convertible but doesn't have roll up side windows. The top has side curtains that hang down and snap on with windows in them. Imagine a Jeep soft top, but on a bigger car. The owner called me from Fl...

Re: heart attack

Kidney stone - That sucks. My wife has had a few, and one was so painful that the doctor took a look at her and told the nurse to get fentanyl for her. Yup, she got a legal dose. Knocked down the pain in about 10 seconds. Another one she had came out from riding with me on a back road in my Rav4. No...

Re: heart attack

I think one is a 38 Packard 180. I put a police siren/PA system in it so the guy could use it in political rallies and parades. They still used 6 volt positive ground systems then, so I had to put in a 6 to 12 volt transformer and keep the 12V system electrically isolated from the body, since all th...

Re: Gr vorratskasten fur MG Lafette 34

I have to wonder what your camera is doing when it takes the picture. If it has automatic settings, it will decrease the quality of the picture if the light is low. Use a flash if your camera has that. Try it with more light (perhaps in the sun?) and we'll see what happens.

Re: Gr vorratskasten fur MG Lafette 34

Are you using a phone or a computer to upload the files? the file you sent me is 500 dpi, which is good, but it's 7" high and 5" wide. Can't read it.

Re: Gr vorratskasten fur MG Lafette 34

In both photos, it looks like there is something printed on the back of the page. Is the sheet able to be removed from the envelope that it is in? If your camera can be set at a higher resolution (maybe 600) that would help a lot. When I try to zoom in on the 350dpi photos, it goes blurry very quick...

Re: Looking for an original MG AA tripod with a MG34 cradle

Last one of those I saw for sale was years ago... Even a reproduction top mount is expensive. An original tripod isn't too tough to find, but not cheap anymore either. The mounts are easy to change on the tripod, so even if you find just the mount, grab it.

Re: Gr vorratskasten fur MG Lafette 34

5 megapixel is what the 5 means. That would be good. I had to cut down the other pictures to under 1 meg in size to get them posted on Axis History. The software for their board (same as this board) can be set to limit the maximum file size. To get 1 meg or smaller files, I reduced pixels per inch t...

Re: heart attack

I need to sell manuals at a couple shows. It's good advertising, even if I don't sell much at the show itself, I get sales later. It's just a matter of a gun show being big enough and close enough to make it worth doing. The reenactments at Rockford, IL and at Conneaut, OH are great, but there aren'...

Re: Gr vorratskasten fur MG Lafette 34

This picture is 1.8 inches wide in true size... That's a little too small to read. When I enlarge it it just goes too blurry to read.

I'm not seeing any obvious difference. Here's a picture of my gun set up for .308. This is in high-res so click on it to blow it up.

Re: MG42 / M53 Pressure Plate Problem

There's the odd shaped spring (#4) for that... I"m talking about the small coil spring - #5 in the picture, with the arrow. It's what stops the pressure plate from moving fore and aft.

Done. Glad to help.

How about a close-up picture of the small parts box listing? :D

Re: MG42 / M53 Pressure Plate Problem

You know there's supposed to be a coil spring that goes on the long pin to hold the pressure plate in the correct location, right?

Here's a blow up-parts diagram from manual PDV 918 that shows the assembly.

Click on the photo to enlarge it.

Re: heart attack

I'm about half way back to normal, but it's slow progress. I'm gaining endurance faster that I did with getting over throat cancer, but I'm not 30 years old anymore, so healing will take some time yet. I'd have preferred going to SOS, but I knew that it would run me into the ground, so I had to pass...

Re: Gr vorratskasten fur MG Lafette 34

Glad to see you back Tim. Lots of health problems have visited people in the last year. Good to see you're still around. Wow, just wow. GREAT stuff. I never saw a parts kit like that with all the compartments full. That's the same dated edition of D166/1 that I translated years ago (2006). It was th...

Re: MG 08/15 - Need Advice

I scan the photos at 600 dpi, and use Photoshop to enhance them, and I print the manuals at 1200 dpi. Every photo is the best it can be, but some of them were really crap to start with, and I can only do so much. Often the pictures in the translation are better than they were in the originals. My wi...

Re: heart attack

The biggest pain I have is walking a mile every day. The doctor insists that I need to do it, but I don't have to like it. :) I have a friend who had bypasses done 25 years ago, and they're still working for him. My mother is 96, so I figure I'll last around that long now. Doing well. Whoever came t...
