Re: MG34 to MG3 Lafette trigger problem need help.

I forgot to answer the question on the red plate, I also believe that it is for blanks but have never checked the manual to see, but I like it as it causes all of the empires to dump in just one place instead of bouncing all over the place. Harry

Re: MG34 to MG3 Lafette trigger problem need help.

I also have the adapter from TNW to mount the MG34 on the MG42 or Post-War MG3 tripod but liked Jeff's adapter better. The one from TNW requires that the rear bi-pod retainer spring be removed as since I also use my MG34's off of the AA tripod and the Kuebel I decided on the one from Jeff. Thanks fo...

Re: bolt carrier and semi sear problem

Had a sear break off on me last weekend, gun fired less than 20 times. First problem I have had with the TNW bolts other than minor adjustments. I will be sending back to TNW for replacement. It looks like the metal on the sear is way too thin. Photographs attached Harry

Re: grip stick difference between BRP and Wiselite

Thanks for the replies, while the Wiselite receivers are longer the problem seems to be where they weld in the rear lug mount for the tripod. Their trigger unit is almost an inch longer than the original grip stick. They wove the rear recuperator and bolt block to the rear so the grip stick will fit...

Re: MG34 to MG3 Lafette trigger problem need help.

Many years ago, Jeff Plater at Iron Creations manufactured a complete MG34 adaption kit for the MG3 tripod. It required that you change out the front of spring area with his kit and replace the MG3 trigger with one he made for the MG34. I am not sure that he offers them anymoreI have a set that I us...

grip stick difference between BRP and Wiselite

I hope someone can help me on this. Does the front of the grip stick from BRP fit into the modified (made larger) ejection port? I believe the Wiselite fits into the original slot that has been made longer and wider. Also Wiselite moved the rear tripod mount back a little since it seems like their g...

Re: MG34/mg3 Lafetteprodject askingprice?

If you would sell the original cradle and trigger parts I would be interested. I have a 1939 Lafette that was converted to a MG 42 Lafette by the Germans, not the Yugo's and would love to convert back for use with my MG34. Thanks Harry

Re: TNW "new problem"

have you checked the length of your ejector rod in the bolt? I have found two problems with this piece, one being the rod is too long and it hits the ejector plate on the middle of the receiver on the way forward and that will cause the rod to shove the round up. The other is that the angle on the r...

Re: Mg34 problems

I would return the bolt and ask Lance to fix roller issue - the rollers need to be the same size and have NO flat spots. TNW has new rollers. The ejection rod length seems to be a continuing problem, as well as the angle cut on the rod. I always check the rod and angle for the bolts when I get them ...

Re: The evilest of MG34 problems. Need some help

Another suggestion would be to remove the pistol grip to see if something is blocking the bolt from going to the rear. I have several TNW MG34's and have not had any problem like this with them. Harry

Re: Replacing Barrel Collar

Brian, I have run a few thousand rounds through my Israeli barrels so I can keep the German ones nice. The Israeli barrels I have have a chrome lined bore and handle most of the nasty ammo out there with just a simple cleaning. I have never had a problem with them. Most are mid-50 production and are...

Re: Cannot separate the two halves on MG34

I check the recuperator rod and spring pressure by using a flat piece of metal such as a flat screw drive blade, flat side down and pressing it against the recuperator head. You should be able to push it in without a lot of trouble. Harry

Re: Optics for the Lafette

I purchased a couple of the Yugo scopes for the MG42 tripod when I was stationed in Germany a few years ago. They cost a bit more than what is being sold on eBay.de right now. However the optics on mine did not have the cross hair sideways as the anti-tank sight does when mounted on the MG34/42 trip...

Re: Cannot separate the two halves on MG34

Instead of oil, try some brake cleaner in all contact areas. If you can get the barrel out, then pull the muzzle booster and clean it. You do have the bolt to the rear or out of the gun when you try to rotate the barrel jacket right? Normally when I have had this problem with a 34 it is because ther...

Re: Found: 1909 MG08 Spandau and a 1916 sled mount

Dennis at MidWestern Metals did my 1910 in semi Auto and it looks/shoots great. My 1908/15 uses a similar set up with the 1910 Lock and a trigger unit as used on the Vickers semi-auto. It also works great. I am getting ready to have major back surgery and these things are not user friendly to carry ...
