Re: m60 links in a mg42?

I have a number of different handcrank loaders for the MG42/MG3 belts but the wife just won't run them. She loads mags for the Uzi with no complaints but then she empties them too. I guess thats ok though, you shoot you load. She doesn't like shooting the belt feds but loves the uzi so I can't reall...

Re: German anti-tank rifle,WWI

Well the rail gun is a secret project so I can't discuss that.... I never thought of castor as its not really very self contained. When I grew up and worked for a crop duster he had an oil injection system that pumped hydraulic oil into the exhaust to make smoke. It created a very heavy cloud for ma...

Re: German anti-tank rifle,WWI

Frank, btw...how heavy IS that 20mm round?? looks like something you put in those big mortars...the ones that have the feet that you imbed in the ground! What is the recoil like for the 20mm? Sorry, I forgot to answer this part.... The 20mm round uses a 1500 grain projectile from the US 20mm vulcan...

Re: German anti-tank rifle,WWI

Michael I know exactly what you mean about the MarStar guys. Having dealt with them a little there is no need to say more. Noonxnoon, we have tried a few smoke mixtures, the potassium nitrate and suger mix was suggested and tried in small quantities but it has some problems with ignition and cleanup...

Re: German anti-tank rifle,WWI

We can't really discuss govt stupidity too much or we will all be angry and crying. here is a pic of the boys rifle. This gun was originally shipped to Finland in one of the two shipments of 200 guns ea. The gun when I got it had the barrel cut off and a bar welded in the chamber. I made up a barrel...

Re: German anti-tank rifle,WWI

I heard that MarStar brought a bunch of PTRS's in to Canada last year and a lot of guys down here were mighty pissed when they found out they couldn't import them into the US. Between the Canadian stupidity and the US stupidity there is still some room for the odd allowable piece or two. We just can...

Re: German anti-tank rifle,WWI

I'm happy to give back some of what I was given in knowledge and experience from the older guys I knew. Glad there is someone who wants to know this stuff still out there. Shooting the mortar is a 2 man job because of the reason you pointed out probably without knowing it. The mortar bomb makes a sm...

Re: German anti-tank rifle,WWI

All these guns with bores over .5" are perfectly legal in the US as long as they are registered. They are classified as Destructive devices and require the same paperwork as a machinegun or silencer. My FFL allows me to deal in and manufacture MG's , Silencers, Short barreled rifles and AOW's but fo...

Re: German anti-tank rifle,WWI

Sorry Bil, I'll get the picture of the Boys rifle when I get home. I don't have any on this computer..... the pic of the solo and the SIG's is from my backyard and the PTRS is in the shop. If the weather is nice I'll get the Boys in the backyard. Museums have some cool stuff but they seem to screw u...

Re: German anti-tank rifle,WWI

not to hijack the thread but here are a couple pics of the PTRS. Pics of the rifle receiver section compared to a standard "full size" SKS as well as a comparison of bolt carriers. Also a picture compared to an RPD which is a pretty good sized light machinegun. http://i149.photobucket.com/albums/s71...

Re: German anti-tank rifle,WWI

Interesting. I have read about the WWII a/t rifles but never saw one and never thought too much about how it all works. Anyone care to educate me how a rifle is able to punch into steel? I know they have longer barrels...maybe the charge is kicked up a few notches and I imagine the bullet and paylo...

Re: drum loader pics

I picked up a winder at Knob Creek that was intended to be used with the modified mags being built to fit the G3 rifles. It works great with the normal MG15 mags too. There is a handcrank on the back and a gear train that turns both spindles at once. Crank a little while loading and viola! you have ...

Re: Recouperator Springs

Hi Bob, If the guns are transferable MG's than I would most definately not cut off the tabs. Like I had said in the earlier post that tab is a part of the receiver which is very hard to replace. It is also part of the lockup for the buffer so unless the rivets are loose its not something you want to...

Re: Recouperator Springs

The longer recuperators that RTG sells are for the MG3 or MG74. They are longer because it was discovered that the WWII type MG42 recuperators didn't have enough poop to handle the barrel. They stiffened up the springs and added another set which helps a lot. The problem with dropping them in your M...

Re: Traversing Mechanism

The idea behind this is primarly for long range firing where the impact area of the bullets (beaten zone) is very small. As you raise the elevation of the weapon the danger area decreases, in other words, if you are firing out to about 600m you are firing pretty flat and any man between those ranges...

Re: Recouperator Springs

Try contacting Bob Naess at http://www.blackrivermilitaria.com you can find contact info there. Bob made up some stiffer springs that keep the barrel from battering the trunnion and make the gun work better. I'm sure it will help the semi auto guns as well since the recuperator springs are a big sou...

I'd recommend just like the rest of these guys not to use that ammo (turk) in anything you value. I got lambasted on many boards for saying that but the truth is the ammo is bad, somewhere in the box you have is a round that will ruin your day. I fired one round in my Hakim when that ammo first came...

They are MG15 drums, not MG13....

the MG13 did use a doppeltrommel but it had some weird angles to the feed tower and drums due to the side feed on the gun. I've never seen or heard of a "real" MG34 drum but I have seen a number of MG34's using the original (russian import claimed to be original anyway) topcovers. All that I've seen...
