Re: New Production 8mm Ammo
I was somewhat surprised to see some bulk Wolf and Tula 8mm and even 308 that is relatively cheap. Over the years I have seen posts speaking badly about some ammo and I just want to make sure that what I shoot is worthy of my 42. I appreciate any thoughts in finding the best and cheapest ammo for fun.

New Production 8mm Ammo
I found some new production 8mm ammo on the internet for about $.38 per round. While I do not consider that cheap I was curious if it is any good to shoot in my 42 with WWII or Yugo barrels.
I would appreciate any experience anyone might have had with this ammo.
Thanks

Re: Ammo, the good, the bad, the ugly.
I have searched for cheap 8mm bullets to reload for my 42 and believe expensive ones are not easy to find.

Best Way to Sell Ammo
I have started primarily shooting 308 versus 8mm mainly because of the availability of 308. I have collected, over several years, several thousand rounds of Romanian 8mm in spam cans. When I search around the internet I see the price going out of sight because (I assume) there will never be any more...

Worth of a C&R MG42
I saw an MG42 have been sold on Rubin's web site the other day; I emailed him and asked what it had sold for; he said $40K.
I was somewhat shocked as I had no idea such an item would be worth so much. Is it just me or is there that much demand out there?

Re: Reproduction MG42 Wooden Stock
Forgot to ask. If I get the stock as advertised on ebay and use the metal parts from my M53 stock, will it work ok?

Re: Reproduction MG42 Wooden Stock
I had a lady sewing little parts bags that fit in the butt stock of a MP44. Just a little cloth bag with a tie string at the top. And, they said that was a machine gun part. They also said I could relist if I took the MP44 out of the advertisement. I agree - they are stupid and the only problem with...

Re: Reproduction MG42 Wooden Stock
Yes, that looks like it but not the site I was looking for. I try to avoid ebay ever since they banned me from selling reproduction cloth bags to go in the stock of an MP44 to contain spare parts. They banned me because they said CA laws considered this a machine gun part. The guy (and many others) ...

Reproduction MG42 Wooden Stock
I recently saw a reproduction MG42 stock in natural wood color for like $49.99. It was not on a regular MG parts site but rather on more of a military collectors page. I did not bookmark the page and now I cannot find the site. Does anyone out there know where this site might have been? Thanks Bob

Does Case Length Matter?
I am reloading 308 to feed my beast.
I know that some firearms are sensitive to the case length. Does anyone have any experience with reloading for the 42 and know if it is sensitive or not. Or if it even matters.
Thanks

Which Top Cover to Use?
I mainly shoot 308 in my MG42. I have read in another post that some of the top covers (like the MG1/3) can be rough on the belts. Almost all of my belts (I assume) are Yugo surplus.
My question is: Which top cover should I be using to get the best life from my belts?
Thanks.

Re: Good Load for 308 MG42 Reloads
Yes, I saw one and made one. Fired it with about 10 belts and all of a sudden it got caught somehow jammed the bolt. I suspect I did not take enough time to make it as described. Mine was a little lose. Just did the tubing thing to keep from having a part inside the receiver.

Re: Good Load for 308 MG42 Reloads
I did not realize 1g or so would make much difference. The best thing I did was twist tie a piece of tubing to the front of the trigger guard to prevent the brass from being bent when ejected. Thanks.

Good Load for 308 MG42 Reloads
I recently started loading some 308 to shoot in my MG42 with a conversion kit. I am using IMR 3031 powder. Anyone have any experience in reloading for a 42? As I am new to this project I would appreciate any help anyone might provide. Thanks.

Re: WTB: MG42 Wooden Butt
Thanks, I figured 42 stocks were clear finished and that the MG53 stocks were painted black; now confirmed.
I am looking for any stock that can be refinished to look like a 42 stock; no markings necessary.
Thanks.

WTB: MG42 Wooden Butt
Looking for a wooden butt stock which is blond or some color other than black. I might consider a black painted one if it can be cleaned and the paint removed to expose the wood.
Thanks

Re: MG42 Cleaning
Thanks for the replies guys but I have a C&R 42 and I don't know what the effect of the bead blasting or other stuff might be. As such I was hoping for some sort of long sonic cleaner or something. Plus you solution sound a little like hard work.
