Re: Advice on MG fakes/repro accessories.

lugercarbine TY for the reply. Your reply is reassurring :D
I looked up Krupp and indeed you are right. The web site described it as 3 circles 'ontop' of each other, not interlinked as I thought. It has been their symbol since the late 1880's.
So my item is genuine so that is good news.

Re: MG 08 sled mount variations.

2!!! That is impressive. Thanks for the reply. I have seen this manufacturer symbol on some photo images. Do both your sleds have 'all' the boxes on the main body? I have seen one picture of a sled with no spare barrel 'holding' box nor the other boxes so maybe this was a users field modification. L...

M16 - Dreifuss Tripod

Dolf's book is superb and it is clear there are many variations of this type of tripod. Plus with battle use, and period, and nation, there are many variations and modifications, but can anyone be brave enough and tell me what exactly is the type/pattern of an Imperial German M16 Dreifuss WWI tripod...

MG 08 sled mount variations.

Those of you lucky enough to own the schlitten - would I be right in saying that there are probably only 3 manufacturer variations/patterns, determined by the number of 'boxes' on the main body. I assume they all had the spare barrel fitting, but combinations of no oil box, oil box, no spare parts b...

Advice on MG fakes/repro accessories.

There has been some discussions on the quality of repros and more importantly the desire by some to pass off a fake or repro as an original. I have an example of a MG08 front armour shield, the one that fits over the foresight. The metal is solid, certainly looks a period piece in terms of wear and ...

Re: MG 08 & MG 08/15

Matt & Darivs - TY for the responses. Matt yes you have sold me some nice pieces - my ex-wife thanks me for that :D I of course still look for a few more items. I do have some nice spares if any of the other board members require items - MG08 muzzle assembly, maxim ammo belts, 08/15 bipod and other ...

MG 08 & MG 08/15

As a brand new site member, I hope to be able to contribute but I am very impressed with the knowledge base and contributions so far. I have much to learn! I am in the RAF but have an extensive interest in the MGC and associated British & German WWI MGs. In due course I shall submit images of our di...
