Re: Maxim Sled Leather Pads
I work in the reproduction business and you can bet if the opportunity comes up I will disassemble one for a pattern. I have asked the German Army Museum in Koblenz for the pattern but they did not have it. If someone was crazy enough to disassemble an existing one then voila! Whoever was going to d...

Re: Maxim Sled Leather Pads
I have someone that can duplicate them if he had a pattern to go by. He manufacturers museum quality leather reproductions and having looked at photos said it would be no problem to make them.

Maxim Sled Leather Pads
In some older threads I found mention of reproduction sled pads but never saw a reference to who was making them. Any know of a current source for these?
Thanks

Well, aware of that. I did not realize the MG42 you were writing about covered the entire production run.

Re: MG34 OR MG42 FOR DURABILITY?
An MG42 is a lot less trouble to have it work consistently. The MG34 is much more complicated. Guess it depends on the individual firearm. I owned an MG42 years ago that was nothing but trouble. I have an MG34 now that worked right out of the box and has never given me a bit of trouble. Both full a...

Re: Ammunition Box Gasket
I beg to differ, I have several German Patronenkasten 41 that either have gaskets or remnants of gaskets. You may also want to take a look at p.408 of Myrvang for his description.DARIVS ARCHITECTVS wrote:What type of ammo box? German 8mm ammo boxes did not have a gasket.

Rottenfuhrer, I am a little confused with your earlier statement : Thanks I have several originals in 8mm but I would like one in 7.62 to use in my F/A MG34. Those blanks are much less expensive than the 8mm. ....and your last statement about now not needing one because you have never shot blanks w...

Re: blank adapting the mg42/m53/mg1-3
Blanksguy,
Thank you for all the information, unfortunately it sounds like a lot more trouble than it is worth at least for me. I never have shot blanks with my 34 and I doubt I will. I was just curious about the barrel.

Re: blank adapting the mg42/m53/mg1-3
Rottenfuhrer, I would not bid on that MG-42 2-pcs. Blank-Barrel-Assembly.......and wouldn't buy one like it unless you were going to re-machine the rear-half.....and make a new front half NOTE: The problem with the MG-42 Blank-Barrel-Assembly as shown in on that auction is that the "front-half" has...

Re: 8mm Ammo questions!
Thanks for sending those rivets out. I can finally replace those screws! I have heard that yugo has hard primmers. Is it really that big of a deal? I just installed a heavy weight hammer spring in the 42. I have a line on sime 1950's yugo $175 for a sealed 900 can. Shipping was quoted at $35 - what...

The link I sent was for unprimed brass, it is showing as in stock on their website in the dealers section.
