Re: Barrel stop/barrel/recoup location
An MG3 barrel profile is not the same as a 308 MG42 barrel, they differ slightly at the muzzle, the bearings if fitted onto the correctly matched barrel wont slide back and forth on the barrel. off the top of my head I cant remember but, I do know that the MG3 bearing wont fit on a 42 barrel or the ...

Re: Barrel stop/barrel/recoup location
Thanks Phill,
All three barrels are 308 but only one takes the MG3 bearing, the other two take what I believe is the MG42/M53 bearing

Re: Barrel stop/barrel/recoup location
JB, I cant agree on that sorry (happy to be corrected as Im not full speed on 42's). With barrel fully forward it should rest up against the barrel stop I believe, and the recouperator should be applying slight pressure to the back of the barrel extension to hold the barrel forward against the barre...

Re: Rail length
Thanks JB If im not mistaken, the flat edge of the tab on the rail should rest up against the flat edge of the 'D' cut out in the side wall of the rec (unless i'm not understanding you sorry), if this is in fact correct the front of the rail will pass into the cam box window. The photo is not alowin...

Gents, I have a BRP front end im intendending to fit up with MG53 barrel stop and bits. I have fit the MG53 Cam box to the new front metal firmly up the the cam box stops (top and bottom) and all looks good, comparing this to an MG53 front end I have the barrel stop locator windows are within .020" ...

Re: New m53 build
Welcome, For my two cents worth, save as much as you can of the original, having those existing holes are an invluable ref point, in fact it would be great if you could document them and post them from the back of the cam box wind back.. Im sure we would all like to see your expandable coper alignme...

Re: MG42 Conversion Kits
Ok, help me out here, why is an MG3 bolt better to have in that conversion over say an MG53 bolt, is the bolt head the same? is it only the back piece that is different? (as in heavier) or other, I have MG3 cover and feed tray etc but only MG53 bolt assemblies

Re: cloth belt options for 08/15
Thanks Gents, I have a couple of those Turk 8mm metal belts like IMA have, they are fragile being aluminum, I feel the browning belts could give me issues as hand checking thme I'm not 100% happy so I will continuue to use the Vickers for now. Was there a mod to change the feed blocks to suit a diff...

cloth belt options for 08/15
Gents, Currently I have been using Vickers belts in my 08/15, they are 1) a bitch to load due to them being tight obviously 2) they are deteriorating quickly. Has anyone used 1919 30-06 cloth belt in them. I just hand cylcled some through it and by all accounts its not too bad, possibly doable. I ca...

I understand what you are saying, so, with that said, can someone advise what the two tabs are for that sit inside the rail channel on the rail?

Re: Rail placement
So, I have a question, the right hand end of the rails as shown in the pictures, the end that butts up against the cam, the top 4 rails have a piece that extends past the lug/tab meaning if these are fitted as is there will be a gap between this said lug and the cam which, as the bolt is moving forw...
