Re: Looking for demilitarized MG42
I hope to have my MG42/M53 finished and ready for the range by mid-October. In the mean time I'm stocking up on 8 mm ammo and putting together a German uniform and equipment to go with it. One question I have is where can I find 8 mm ammo belts that hold more than 50 rounds? John You can connect th...

WWI MG08 Group Photo
Photo was shared by a fellow from FB whose wife's grandfather is shown in the photo, second from right. He served in the "Danziger Bn 128th Regt and won both the Iron and Battle Cross". Survived the war and moved to Canada. Lots of nice details shown. Website is cutting the right side of the photo o...

Re: Sideplates, deactivation and NFA rules
Plus, shipping container materials must comply now with EPA regulations to prevent transport of an kinds of organic or inorganic materials that might contaminate the importing country. Bob Naess Bob, I have not heard of that requirement, we ship multiple packages out of the country every week using...

Re: Sideplates, deactivation and NFA rules
Never hurts to print these rulings out and keep them on file. Goes a long way to solving any issues if the subject comes up during an inspection.

This reminds me more of a 1950s typewriter color.

Re: Another MG08 accessory to ponder.
Comes with the gun. Color? The one in Dolf's book appears to be a light color as well but I do not plan on keeping it so off to Ebay it goes when it gets here.

Re: Erb MG08 Price Check?
It is part of a trade deal. Sled comes with it. That said, a lot of people would be interested in a ERB sideplate gun so they can rip it off and make a 1910 or T24 maxim out of it. A member here comes to mind... Jmann.... I don't believe Jmann would do me that way, he is one of the ones that got me...

Re: Erb MG08 Price Check?
It is mixed in with a trade involving a number of machine guns so approximate value is what I was mainly after.

I have to say, any MG08 is worth $8K... if nothing else people will pull the sideplate and put it on a 1910.

I could have written that a little better, the intent was that they did not mark them in 1918.

Re: Erb MG08 Price Check?
I was trying to get a feel for the market value before posting photos. I normally do not deal in guns this early but with the centennial of the Great War being here my interest has been sparked. I have owned Erb guns of other types in the past and never had a problem with their function. This one is...

Re: MG08 Sled Mount Marking?
Thanks. Sled belongs to a MG08 I am looking at buying and was curious about the marking. This one is dated 1918. Did a bit of checking and they are still in business - http://www.duerkopp-adler.com/en/main/company/history.html I have a sled dated 1917 manufactured by Durkopp. I think they are still ...

MG08 Fuzzee Cover Marking 1918
Dolf states in his book that the change over to the unmarked fuzzee spring covers occurred in 1918. I am curious how common is it to find 1918 dated MG08s with both the top cover and fuzzee cover marked with manufacturer data and date? http://i676.photobucket.com/albums/vv121/roscoeturner/Maxim/FC1_...

Re: Sideplates, deactivation and NFA rules
I realize this is an old thread but thought it appropriate to update the information. Below is a link to ATF's 2010 ruling on the side plate issue.
