Re: Trigger gate on mg34
Is the half moon on the trigger gate making movement into the bolt trip sear? Is the recess for the trigger gate hollowed out far enough to the rear to allow a full upward movement of the trip arm? Is the spring under the trigger gate able to fully compress to allow upward movement of the trigger ga...

Re: Trigger gate on mg34
I've only had a problem w/ length....if it's too wide to fit in the bolt slot how much do you need to thin on each side of the trigger gate half moon? If that is the problem? One other thought might be to get a spring with fewer coils for the trigger gate??? Perhaps the spring is bottoming out not l...

Re: Trigger gate on mg34
As mentioned, need more info....original TNW or Reweld? If this is a reweld that you have done the trigger gate area on the TNW is substantially different than the original 34...needs to be altered to properly accept the trigger gate.... Chris...

Re: Recuperator Pin hole measurement?
http://www.mg42.us/viewtopic.php?f=48&t=8559 I was able to stake the location of the hole on a receiver that had been rewelded in that location. The pin needs to pass through low enough in the channel so the recuperator recessed area doesn't get hung up on it, but high enough to catch and impede the...

Re: MG34 Trigger gate area
Yes, this is just a small plate for a "bearing area" for the spring on the trigger gate. I have a seperate blocker in the underside of the receiver which was just a piece of small bar stock inserted into the holding area for the FA parts and welded into place. There is then a small block in the bott...

Re: how hard would this be to reweld... saw cut
Not bad, but if it were me I'd try to get some small receiver scrap bits from someone here on the forum, etc...... wedge 'em in tight on the jig and weld em in, bevel them for good weld penetration....it can be a little tedious grinding down and fitting in the filler pieces, but IMO it's worth it......

Re: Receiver reweld reports?
Using one of Pirate's jigs I have rewelded several.....expect a lot of finish and prep time to complete one. I have one that is ever so slightly warped where the back piece joins the center section, not a critical area, everything will go on to the receiver no problem, but the bolt won't glide throu...

MG34 on TV Show "American Pickers" History Channel
Did anyone catch the episode where the Emu is chasing them around in the pasture? Well, they move on from there to another guys' place who had a BMW motorcycle w/ sidecar, and get this...a side mount MG34 just sitting there, the owner called it "his .50 cal"...I got a good laugh out of it, they're a...

Re: mg34 receiver stud on front of receiver
I've handled several MG34 receivers that were cut through the area where they attach into the receiver, it seems like a lot of extra metal to machine away, but they all appear to be machined, or at least they do to me...TNW welds original "studs" from receiver scraps onto their billet machined recei...
