looks like you are well on your way, I am not real worried about the gaps, both mine are in the 1/4" range. these gaps look tiny compared to some of the dshk demills that get welded back together and its a highly stressed rec that handles lockup. I used steel and copper for the mandrell in mine, Lik...

filling the large gaps with weld may cause problems with warpage but structuraly it will be sound, the bolt and bbl lock together during high pressure event and the rec does nothing more than align all the various parts. The most stress its under is stopping the rearward travel of the bolt during th...

Questions: 1: If costs were not a "factor"....is it better to use "Copper" or "Brass" as a backing prior to welding an SA34 DEMILed-receiver ? .....and what is the minimum thickness that would be required ? (...if you were using say copper-sheet over a steel-bar.). Regards, RichardS. Blanksguy2001@...

so currently BRP has an approval letter for their semi 42 using a new rec and its classified as a firearm not a rifle, And another letter exist stating that if a semi 42 were to be built from a demilled rec it would be considered a semi rifle, but know one has an approval on a semi built from a demi...

I think the key is in the last line of the clipit Orin posted "any deviation in the manner in which the receiver is constructed could change our classification" Brp is using a newly constructed US made receiver, and the rewelds do not. That was what prompted me to ask if anyone had an approval lette...

Thats good to know, anyone made in progress on getting an approval letter on a rewatt? Just to be clear, what do you mean when referring to a "rewat"? By rewatt, I mean an original demilled rec, commonly known as a dewatt , rebuilt to function as a semi auto firearm. Does anyone to date have an atf...

As mentioned in my post that was deleted yesterday (?), If a stock ar hammer thats hitting the firing pin sqaurley doesnt have enough energy to ignite the primer then one of three things is wrong somewhere down the line. Either your firing pin is very heavy and requires a huge spring to avoid slam f...

BRAVO, that looks great, I dont think the ar fcg is a waste of time at all if you dont have to grind half the mass of the hammer away to get it to work, nice simple US made fcg that can be had for $25 and with an unmodified hammer there is no need for a heavy hammer spring at all. A US made fal fcg ...
