180 degrees off... It doesn't work that way. DOH! :wnana: :wnana: :wnana:

If it was easy, they wouldn't have needed manuals. :)

Re: Help please. Gun won't work right.

http://www.germanmanuals.com/manuals.html The M.G. 34 Trigger System. This booklet has been created by combining the graphics from a WWII MG34 trigger system training poster and information from MG34 manual D 124/1, and the MG34 Glass Slide Manual 131c. Until now, the complicated design and method o...

mg34.com might have one, but you'll have to call and ask them. They have a lot of stuff not listed on their website.

Re: Unloading a belt with the belt loading machine?

According to the MG3 operator manual, the MG3 belt filler hopper is taken off and the unbelting adapter is put on with the brush to the left.

I don't think the WW2 style loader does that.

Re: .308 conversion

First, is your gun semi or full? My full auto MG42 shoots in .308 just fine without changing the nozzle. Semi autos are on the borderline of having enough recoil to operate the gun, and therefore are more likely to need a booster with a smaller hole. Try it first and see if it works with the nozzle ...

You're in for a lot of work to make that gun shoot. Start with the stickies section and go from there so see what is involved in general.

There's nothing quite like cutting down a 14" tree the easy way.

To New Members

We have a lot of traffic on here, but very few people need to leave messages anymore. We've pretty well mastered making the MG42 parts kit into a functional semi-auto rifle, so there really isn't much to say that's new, as we've covered it all very well. Reading the existing messages will give you w...

Re: WTB MG3 TRIPOD

Just to be clear, a tripod is what you shoot from standing up (three legs and a vertial pole), and a lafette (ground mount) has three legs, but you have to crouch down to shoot with it, and it can use a telescopic sight.

Re: WTB MG42/Yugo .308 barrel

Before the barrel ban, 8mm barrels were $35, .308 barrels were $25. That was a long time ago. If it was only a barrel, it wouldn't be so expensive. The barrel and barrel extension combination is a pain in the butt to get the headspace set correctly, and getting the stubs out of the old extensions ca...

Re: HR Guns produced MG42?

"HR Guns", obviously the name is in English, so it isn't a German company. It used to be legal to make machineguns for sale to private individuals. Sometimes an illegally brought back gun would be "remanufactured" by someone here to get it legally registered. When this happened, ...

Now that I've been doing the background maintenance on the board for a few weeks, I have to say that I'm surprised by the traffic here. We don't have dozens of new messages every day, but we do have dozens of people who log on, many as guests, who spend a lot of time reading the message bases. While...

Re: MG3 AA Tripod Leg Re-attachment

Assemble it until you can get the nut on by maybe two threads. Put the leg fully upward to decrease the amount of tension needed to get it to line up. Then get the spring in the correct locations and push the cammed pin into the hole. Tighten the nut. Hope that makes sense. Assembly of this part is ...

Thanks go to Salt6 (Steve) for getting this board going, keeping it going for all these years, and now wanting the board to continue as his priorities have changed. John

Re: Rubber bumper to protect shells from damage

One of the nice things about a curio and relics license is that you no longer need to fill out paperwork to take an MG to another state. The C&R license is your authorization to transport a C&R gun. $30 for 3 years. Worth every bit of it to keep from screwing the the interstate authorization...

Re: Rubber bumper to protect shells from damage

The function of the trigger group can be checked out of the gun. When you pull the trigger, the rear arm lowers and stays lowered when you release the trigger. When it's in the gun, the rearward traveling bolt has a tab on the bottom of the bolt that hits the small lever in the top front of the trig...

Re: Rubber bumper to protect shells from damage

If you don't care about the trigger group, you could pop rivet the piece of hose to the front of the trigger guard. Just don't put the rivet or rivets where the shell hits.
