Re: MG34 Lafette Restoration
yep, I have a picture somewhere that I spayed out a test panel and then compared it to the inside cover of one of those original cans I sold. Dead on match. http://www.mg42.us/viewtopic.php?f=25&t=5473 Hello and welcome, I see a top layer of dark green which appears to be Norwegian. Than under that appears to be Original Dark Grey "Dunkelgrau". then a base of original primer. Yes the green tint is an original finish on the buffer. Aluminum parts can be ...

Bil, there is no barrel bushing. That is a sulfur container.
I'm sure the pouch and tools are ok to cross, but the bolt for sure can't go.

Yes, But I don't know about the legalities of shipping this to Canada. And don't have the time to research it at this moment what is legal, what taxes and fee's that apply. So rather ship to USA only at the moment.

A road trip with DA? Can we bring your mannequin girlfriends? Heheh.. TC will have some driving to do now....! :D I still have the MP-40 and MP-44 for the MG shoot this year. My personal favorite is the MP-44. Always liked assault rifles in particular. So, bring some Prvi Partizan 8mm kurz and...

This is indeed a sad day. But Nostradamus, the Mayans and the Hopi Indians did predict this.

Re: MG34 Lafette Restoration
The paint was your basic oil base, so I just used paint thinner. And I added a small amount of japan dryer (follow directions on can).gearlogo wrote:Great article. What type of thinner did you use on the paint? Was in paint thinner, MEK, Acetone or lacquer thinner?
Thanks!!

Re: riveting
yeah, seems like a lot of work to achieve the same results. I like simple. If you use draw cleco's to hold the rail in place, the rails won't move. Yeah, I rivet one at a time and then turn around the rivet jig and do the other side. But it's still simple and no need to mill anything.

Re: Newb Checking In
if the wingnut on the back is loose and the large knob still won't turn, then I suspect the grease in the gears may be hard. Also, that knob pulls outward to allow more movement up and down for elevation.
