Re: MG08 Booster, what do I have

Thanks Frank,
ref the sleeve/piston, one end has a square edge the other has a radiused outer edge, do I put the radiused edge toward the rear of the gun when fitted to the barrel with the square edge facing forward to work better as a piston?

Re: MG08 Booster, what do I have

Thanks to you both for your input, I have a Vickers but have not had a chance to check against it. Sorry for the threaded piston confusion, the barrel on the 08 I have just acquired is threaded, i know the seller had two guns and I'm thinking the other booster was a re-pro and they may have been swa...

Re: MG08 Booster, what do I have

The adaptor is what will screw into the front of an MG 08 or 08/15, the the booster screws into that, it has good aging and is very well machined, so who knows!
The barrel sleeve is not threaded inside and is not oversize so again! I'm note sure.

Re: 08 BFA

Thanks Frank,
by chance, would the MG15 barrel be slightly smaller diameter at the muzzle, by say 0.050" than that of an 08??

Re: 08 BFA

I'll get some photo's posted as soon as I get a chance, if you search Ebay for " MG 08 Tool German ww1 MP MG " it should come up. its no big issue as I can simply make a new piece with correct thread but more letting people know. It looks to new to be original FYI

08 BFA

Ok, so I purchased one of those Maxim BFA's currently on Ebay out of Europe. The BFA barrel cup that replaces the original barrel sleeve has a left hand thread in it, all of the barrels I have are right hand threaded for the barrel sleeve. Can anyone cast any light onto why the BFA barrel cup is lef...

Re: MG34/42 belt in 08/15

Thanks, great youtube stuff. Does anyone know what material the cloth belts were actually made from? if one was daft enough to engage in the thought of makeing a couple of belts!!! I know the vickers belts work ok and the older the better as they are not as tight but these are also getting hard to f...

MG34/42 belt in 08/15

To All,
i have read in various locations that the MG34/42 type belt was used as some point in the MG08/15, used with the belt upside down, if this is the case, what mods, if any are needed to be able to use the MG34/42 link in an MG 08/15 please.

Re: Machining a Philadelphia Ord. 80% receiver

It can be done, first problem is getting the hole bored through, its nit a case of simply drilling or boring, be ase the top has been fattened it exposes the significant edge which a large drill will want to climb out of so a sacrificial plate needs to be fitted to support the drill or a piloted bit...

As best I can get off my rusty cover is the height of the oval is 57mm, the length of the oval is 65mm. the height of the '1' in 1917 is 7mm
