Here is my MG42, 100% german, org sling, not refinished in any way. Stripebal but the barrel.
If its a matching number i dont know. Any coments? corrections?

I have got it confirmed from two indipendent experts that my cover or trommelhalter who is the correct name, is GENUINE. It must be stated that it is re-blued and that the chisel marks over the waffenamts and eagels are post ww2,
done by what ever country took it after ww2.

It has an "L" stamped inside the cover on the left side of the cover release latch, if I am jusing the righy word?
Its marked with a red ring on the pich.

Here is some pics of mine. Have been in contact with a mg34 mentor, Myrvang that is, and he says mine is genuine pre 1940 made. Any coments on this?

I am a bit dissapointed about the reply on this thread. Not that many topcovers around?

Thats right The magazines themselves is not of interest to this thread, only the topcovers that the magazines where installed in. All welcome to post pics of genuine or re-pro, and why it is genuine or not.

Very nice!! And the makers code is also not the most common, looks like a superb MG34.
