Re: Form-6

It has been a couple of years since I filled one out, but use the "implemements of war" section and for "name and address of manufacturer", put "Germany circa WWII." Then list the parts you want to get and the quantity. The ATF will stamp on the Form 6 "no firearms" and "not to include fully automat...

Re: MGZ40 id

Well, I think it was made post-war by the french for their own use. It should have two words on it and it would be nice to know what they are. One seems to be "sitometre". Is there another word on it? Pretty neat item.

Re: MGZ40 id

One more thing: this sight may in fact be post war. The writing on it is not in German, but appears to be French: "sitometre" if Iam reading it right. Also, the color is not correct for a German WWII sight. There were two optics companies co-opted to make MGz40 sights for the Germans in WWII: code L...

Code Nazis like me would like to know the three letter code on the sight.

I need two more codes to have at least one of each.

Yes, the bunker mounts are right hand, as are many of the armoured vehicle mounts.

Re: EM 34 Rangefinder

That's a nice setup. No, the rangefinder and tripod would not be from 1937 because three letter codes were not in use at that time. It really looks good. (bmj = Hensoldt )

Re: ww2 footage of mg42 {poor stopage drills}

Whoops. I know someone that told me about firing his mg34 from a lafette and there was a stoppage. He thought he cleared the weapon and then opened the top cover. He then removed the buttstock and main spring and worked on oiling the receiver or something. No top cover, mainspring, feedtray, buttsto...

Re: Optical equipment questions????

The rubber eye cup from the artillery sight that I have does fit on the MGz40 sight, but the shape of my artillery sight is not 100% the same as the one in the pic. Also, I think the dimmers were issued with the EmR36 rangefinder, but they could be used with any optical equipment

Well, I know what you have been looking at, and the answer I think is "no." I have 8 of these scopes, but none are the "rare" inverted image model. However, I could be wrong.

Re: Odd question? Has anyone taken apart an MGZ40 Optic?

I have disassembled and cleaned the lenses and prism on my MGZ40. It's risky, since those little tiny screws are easy to strip out and destroy the slotted heads or the threads. I only attempted it since the screws were not corroded in place. Rust is not nice to tiny machine screws. After wiping the...
