Re: What are these codes?
Hi "ehs" sold the rear sight support to Grossfuss (bpr) "bpr" made the stamped receivers, rivets and welded them bpr sold the receiver to the MG manufacturer probably Maget (cra, WaA11) Maget manufactured the other parts, assembled MG42s, put markings on them and sell them to the German army. Fab.

Re: WTB German WW2 MG42 Barrel "cra"
the problem is less to find a good WWII barrel than to find one with the markings i'm looking for.
i ever have few " dfb" barrels , but my MG is a "cra" so i would prefer have a "cra" barrel than the "dfb"s i have
with the time i will find one

Hi,
It's a German WW2 MGZ40 re-used by the French army just after the war.
they were re-engraved in French langage, and a French paint.

Re: Strange MG-42 front site blade
during 1943 Maget made 60 000 MG42... began with the marking 1943 cra serial 5000a ( or something like that). The first code GH was use by Maget with the beguining of the "d" serial to the beguining of the "g" serial. so they made 25000 MG42 with the date on them "1943" and 35000 with the "GH" code ...

it's the first model front sight used from 1942 to the end 1943.
if your MG42 is 1943 dated it should have this kind of front sight...

Re: German WW2 markings on the MG42
you can see the bakelite stock here: http://mg42.us/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=6465&p=49561&hilit=bakelite#p49561 no WaA on it but the early German bakelite ww2 code is inside. http://www.lerenfort.fsnet.co.uk/img36.jpg that's why i think this stock must be a very early one from March 1942 (like my 42) Fab.
