Re: Origianl MG42 part?

Here is a photo of my original MG42 stock next to two M53 parts kit stocks. One of the parts kit stocks looks very similar to the German stock. Any chance that the one that I refinnished is German WW2?

Origianl MG42 part?

I just picked up another M53 parts kit. Here are the photos of grip next to the German WW2 grip that came with my MG42. Is this German WW2?

Source of 7.62 Pulled Bullets

I need to feed the beast, MG42 in 7.62 NATO,

I am about out of 30 Cal, 7.62 pulled bullets for reloading. Does anyone know of cheap source of pulled bullets? I looked on Gunbroker and the cheapest seems to be tracers? I read that they do not hurt the barrel at all? Is that true?

Thanks

Re: MG08/15

I contacted IMA to and ask about buying the socket for the bipod as a separate piece or a complete BIPOD. They replied promptly telling me that the Bipods were out of stock. Maybe my local gunsmith can fabricate an adaptor that will fit onto where the Bipod attaches on the MG08/15 and then to my MG3...

FA MG42 continued to fire

I had a range session, using some reloads the I made a few months ago. After running a few belts in 7.62 NATO reloads without issue, I had about three instances where my full auto MG42 continued to fire a few rounds after I let up on the trigger. It was not a runaway gun, just a few rounds. I checke...

Re: MG42 reloading, Brass shrinkage????

Ahhh, That is smart. I was wondering how to measure a chamber free bore space without making a chamber cast, one would have to check each barrel,

Re: MG42 reloading, Brass shrinkage????

Thanks John, I understand that if the the OAL cartridge length is too long that or if the case head space, base to shoulder is too long that could cause the round to fire out of battery. My question is how much free bore does a German MG42 7.62 NATO barrel really have? All the reloading manuals say ...

Re: MG42 reloading, Brass shrinkage????

I just measured and resized every case from my last shooting session. My Gage or my eyes must have been off when I checked a few before and thought that they had shrunk? They did not shrink! In fact, about 1/2 are are now over 2.015, (7.62 NATO). Perhaps, by luck, the few that I checked before were ...

Re: WTS MG-42 Barrels & Parts

Kurt, I will take the barrel latch, My pm is held up in my out box, if the MG3 grip is complete, as opposed to just the frame, I will take that also,

Thanks Pat

MG42 reloading, Brass shrinkage????

Well, The MG42 has been running great in 7.62 with reloads. I relaoded some surplus 7.62 NATO cases twice and thought that I would need to trim my brass. However, it was actually shorter than when I started? Now, I have been relaoding for over 30 years and have never seen this? Is it even possible?

Is the bolt body safe to use with the described repair? Is it a heavier version?

Re: Belts, 50, 150, 250..????

Thanks Frank, I ordered the book that you recommended. I ordered HK21 belts from RTG. They were in new condition. I guess at they should work fine. I will be shooting 7.62 mostly. I had to remove the starter tabs and put them on the other end of the belt. I decided to turn a couple of 50 round belts...

Re: EOTECH mount for MG3/MG74?

I understand, I have the NE MG3 tripod with optics. I did not like that. I much prefer the AA Tripod and shooting with the stock in my shoulder. The Iron sites are ok, I keep it to short burst, I get my sight picutre, squeeze, then let up. I figured that the Eotech would be neat. We are shooting at ...

EOTECH mount for MG3/MG74?

image.jpg
image.jpg
Has any one ever mounted an EOTECH directly on there MG42 or MG3? I see that RTG has a couple of differnt B&T mounts, the cheapest is $200?

Does this hook directly to the barrel shroud? Are there less expensive options? Does it work well?

Re: Belts, 50, 150, 250..????

Well, I got the RTG belts, the 50 rounders were like new, the 100, and 150 had a few links with a small amount of rust that clean up. I measured the inside diameter of the belts and it seems tight? I have other belts that were inside a BW can that look differnent and have a larger diameter? Are ther...

Re: Belts, 50, 150, 250..????

Well, I ordered some more 50 round belts, a 100 round belt and a 150 from RTG. I also ordered the plastic 120 round can that clips not eh side of the 7.62 feed tray. Then I got their 10 ammo can special,

Will let you know how they are. The 250, just seemed too long?
