Re: MG blew up in my face! Need help
My advise is to use surplus barrels and check them for head space. Glad you are OK BTW. Also I got two recuperators, both Yugo and they don't compress flush, the plunger stops with about 5mm still to go. That sounds about right...recups of all types including the MG3, the head does not fully compre...

Re: Pricing of semi MG/M53 now in 2017?
I'm only stating what nozzles I've got in the 1/2 dozen or so Yugo kits I've bought over the years, plus many nozzles and parts I've bought separately. All pictured are unaltered (not drilled). All I believe to be Yugo. Some nozzles were electro-penciled marked as such, some unmarked. I bought some ...

Re: Will a MG! feed tray work with MG3 topcover?
The short answer is no, the MG1 F/T combined with the MG3 T/C will not work together due to clearance issues. I suppose you could 'make it work' by bending or cutting, but out of the box no...

Re: Help with Build
wow that looks crude. Kind of is really i got sharpies a dremmel tool and some other basic hand tools, nothing professional here but its gunna work You can get good results that look like it was machined with a dremel. Get some good metal working files, when you get it roughed in and smooth it out ...

Re: Pricing of semi MG/M53 now in 2017?
The recoil spring Is supposed to reach from the rear of the receiver to the front edge of the feed tray, according to the manual. It does not make any sense. Springs measure around 16 to 17 inches and from rear of the receiver to the front feed tray is about 14.5 inches. Give me exact measurements ...

Re: Ammo, the good, the bad, the ugly.
This is why its good to get a 7.62 NATO (.308) conversion kit. 8mm is a great round but is getting somewhat limited. If you invest in a good MG3 .308 barrel (possibly a smaller or .308 nozzle if needed), NOS MG1 top covers and feed trays can be had for $89...and that opens up a world of alternatives...

Re: Help with Build
Like John said, I'd wait till the receiver was done before doing anything with it in that regard. Sometimes "flipping" the barrel/extension can help due to slight warpage in either the barrel or the shroud. I've found too that some extensions (the post war 7.62 types) can sometime be a tad tighter t...

Re: Help with Build
I'm glad I could help. I wish RTG, BRP and GM all had a vendor presence here as I'm sure we are their best customers. I sometimes hesitate to direct members to others sites, but sometimes we have to in order to share info, especially on parts deals. WG is a very good site, and just like here we have...

Go the the Weapons guild site and join it...there you will find in the 'vendors section' - "Global Machining" you can get the contact info phone # for ordering there (they are great guys to deal with). If you are a member there you get like a $50 discount for being a WG member. These are the same sh...

Re: $460 Yugo Lafette Tripods Available (x2)
Not sure on the importation side, but the shipping is what would drive the price up a lot as they are big and heavy coming from the UK. I got my MG3 lafette from RTG, but he is out of those. I bought my last two Yugo lafettes from Robert Bowman (an importer) who charged a reasonable shipping charge ...

Re: Good deals on yugo M53 basket drums, cans and split slings
I see the prices are creeping up on these since I first posted them...still good deals though. I just got done repainting some barrel carriers, basket drums, can and laffetes in both panzer gray and ordnance tan using spray paint from 1944 militaria. They turned out great, I'll have to post some pic...

Re: Help with Build
I like using the Global Machining receiver shells - can be had for about $275. I use the BRP grip and bolt kit..for first time builders its best not to reinvent the wheel. Like John said read the stickies, read the build threads here and buy a set of manuals so you understand how it works. You want ...

Re: Early mg3 snail drum with screw attachments ?
First, welcome to the board. I believe those were Spanish contract drums, actually meant for the MG1 type feed tray. In fact it is most likely marked '7.62x51 NATO' with a Spanish emblem which is similar to the Spanish Santa Barbara emblem (sword through a circle). If yours is marked differently ple...
